Manage Name Servers
Manage Name Servers
Name servers are computers that have both the software and the data required to resolve domain names to Internet Protocol (IP) numbers. The Manage Name Server feature is only available to individuals and companies who need to maintain their own name servers under their domain name registration.
Note:
- Before you begin to make edits to the name servers, know the name of the domain name server and the corresponding IP address.
- A Primary Contact, Account Administrative Contact, or an Account Technical Contact can manage name servers only for the domain names that they manage.
- Configuring your host servers may cause service loss if you have active Web Forwarding, E-mail or Web Site services.
- Name Server changes may take up to 24 hours to update throughout the Internet.
You can only create a new domain name server under the domain name(s) that you manage. The new name servers should contain the domain name.
